Tohazie, The Grandfather of Dagbon K

The origin of the Dagomba kingdom can be traced to Tohazie, the red hunter. He was a great warrior that descended from the North. He came across a village. By succeeding in killing a wild bull that invaded its only source of drinking water, he was awarded with a princess called Pagawugba. Their son gave birth to Gbewaa. He is the man who began the royal lineage of the chiefs of Dagbon. Today this legend, together with others, remains and is recited by professional court drummers and fiddlers.
